Community Center Feasibility Task Force Seeks Feedback on Site Options

After a 10-month Phase I study process affirmed that many residents want and need a community center, the Community Center Feasibility Task Force (CCFTF) has transitioned to Phase II, drilling into details such as what facilities to include, where a community center might be located, and the costs for construction, operations and ongoing maintenance.

The Facilities & Partnerships Subcommittee has focused its efforts on potential locations and building programming, narrowing its search to two sites: the former Macy’s site at Kingsdale and the Municipal Services Center. At an October 8 Community Meeting held via Zoom Videoconference, the Task Force’s consultants shared high-level “blocking and stacking” concepts for each location, showing how the various programming components could be incorporated within the available footprint. Meeting attendees were able to participate in small discussion groups and answer some simple polling questions about the options.

The Community Meeting was recorded, and both the video and presentation are now available on the CCFTF website. The Task Force invites residents to watch the presentation and share your thoughts with them, by sending an email to [email protected].
