A key 2018 Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Plan recommendation that emerged as a direct result of community feedback is for the City to revisit the issue of inadequate indoor community gathering space. Most notably, in a statistically valid survey 81% of respondents supported a feasibility study on a multi-generational indoor recreation facility.

In July, Council established the 16-resident-member Community Center Feasibility Task Force (CCFTF) to guide this process. Early on, the Task Force determined their work would benefit from the professional assistance of a consultant team. To that end, the City issued a Request for Qualifications and a CCFTF subcommittee was formed to identify its preferred consultant.

At the November 13 meeting of the CCFTF, the subcommittee proposed and the CCFTF unanimously supported the selection of Williams Architects, with subconsultants OHM Advisors and PROS Consulting.

Members of the Task Force and Staff are scheduled to present this recommendation to City Council for review and discussion at the November 18 Council Conference Session. Thereafter, Council is expected to vote on a Resolution to proceed at the November 25 City Council Meeting. Both meetings begin at 7:30 pm, at the Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road.
